St Marys Church Kippax.
£350 was raised at the concert in aid of Help for Heroes & Martin
House Hospice. The acoustics in this ancient church were brilliant and our soloists (Bob Woodhead, Robert Humphreys and Jack Noble excelled themselves). We debuted one of the night ew songs in our repertoire, ‘Climb every mountain’. The hosts agreed it was “an absolutely amazing night”.

St Wilfreds Court Brayton
An excellent evening was enjoyed by both the Choir and a very receptive audience.Due to the size of the venue only a third of the choir was able to perform but treated the audience to a full concert programme full of fun and amusement.Our soloist’s for the evening were Brian Grieves,Bob Humphreys and Robert (Bob) Woodhead who performed to their usual high standard’s.The stand out comment of the evening was “That’s as good as I have ever heard from a choir,actually it’s better than I have ever heard from a choir” Thank you Mr Gill for that.

An enjoyable evening was had by the audience and choir.The Choir was led by our assistant M.D. Stuart Whitwell who led the Choir through a varied programme which included many of the Hosts favourite pieces. Over £700 was raised for the Church funds.

Wakefield Town Hall. Queens Birthday Concert with Lofthouse 2000 Brass Band.
A really enjoyable evening, culminating with illuminations on the Town Hall clock tower.A fantastic total of £890 was raised on the evening for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Ian Dransfield Memorial Concert
The Concert in aid of The Prince of Wales Hospice was again a huge success.The Choir was in top form and our soloists delighted us all with some fine singing and humorous stories.Thanks to a very generous audience over £800 was raised for a cause which is very close to the Choir’s hearts.

An excellent concert, remembering Derek Wrigley one of our choir members who had MND and passed away early 2016. The concert was lighthearted, fun and relaxed, to reflect Derek and celebrate his contribution to the choir. Soloists were Gary Davies, Jack Noble, Bob Woodhead, Len Barraclough and Robert Humphreys, and we debuted ‘Hello Dolly’ with great success.
A grand total of £562 was raised for the Motor Neurone Association.

Belgium Weekend
Concert at St George’s Church Ypres
Menin Gate Last Post Ceremony
A very busy and very emotional weekend of singing was had by the Choir on our third invitation to sing at the Mennin Gate Ceremony in Ypres.
The weekend started with a battlefield tour which was centred around some of the men who’s names are on the Featherstone War Memorial,the tour culminated with our own personal Choral tribute to the fallen.
After lunch we then gave a Concert at St George’s Church to a full and enthusiastic audience.
Our day concluded with a very emotional service at “The Last Post Ceremony” at the Mennin Gate.
Richard Hirst had the Honour of doing the address “They Shall not Grow Old”etc.
George Potts excelled on the Bagpipes with his Lament.
Our Musical Director Paul Rhodes also deserves a special mention for his inspired musical choices of songs for the Ceremony.

Selby Abbey, Joint concert with Featherstone, Sharlston and Greater Manchester Police Choirs, in aid of Dementia Forward & Abbots Staith Trust. £1700 was raised for the two nominated charities.
Soloists were Alysia Hanshaw – Soprano, and Ben Pieper – Tenor.
Our conductor Paul Rhodes shared the podium with a lively young conductor from Manchester, Robert Owens.
A brilliant evening inside Selby Abbey, even if the heavens had opened outside!

Patrons’ Concerts. Wilson Street Featherstone.
Two wonderful concerts, including our first performances of ‘He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother.’ The concerts were superbly enhanced by our guest artistes from English Opera North – Victoria Sharp and Ivan Sharpe, who received a standing ovation.
One of our members, Ray Dawkins, listened to the choir for the first time as a member of the audience, and enjoyed The Song of the Jolly Roger best of all.

The Choir were well received by a warm and receptive audience who were thrilled by a fun inspired and varied programme put together by our Musical Director Paul Rhodes.Our usual soloist’s again excelled,with our rendition of “The Song Of The Jolly Roger” being the highlight of the evening.

A lovely concert at St Mary Magdalene Church in Altofts to round off our summer season. It was a lovely warm evening so jackets were discarded (including our conductor of course).

Without the support of the Ladies’ team to sell tickets and organise the raffle, and our soloists and assistant accompanist, our concerts would not happen.
